Barrel Tasting

11/1/2024

Evening Barrel Tasting
6:00pm to 8:30pm - doors open at 5:30pm
Picture
A rare one on one experience tasting wine from barrels with our winemaker. This year's annual barrel tasting theme will be "young" and "seasoned."
We use the word seasoned rather than old because, at 60, our winemaker doesn't agree with the connotations that go with that word.
The contrasting barrels being tasted this year will be a 2023 Petit Verdot blend, and a 2018 Cab Franc - Merlot blend.

Tickets are available by clicking HERE.
  • Tickets are $50 ($40 for Club members)
    • $10 of every ticket goes to the NeighborImpact food bank.
  • The event will be Open house format.  The event starts at 6pm.  You can arrive any time from 5:30 to 8:00 pm to begin your barrel tasting evening experience.
  • On course for the evening:
    • Barrel Tasting two wines - thieved by hand from the barrels
    • Followed by tasting the bottled wines of last years barrel Tasting, including:
      • Legal Zin 2020
      • and the new release of our Single Barrel Select Series wine - this time it's our 7 1/2 year barrel aged Chardonnay.
    • Followed by two more new releases
      • Blanco 2020 - a more serious version of our Blanco blend that has significantly more Chardonnay in the blend, barrel aged to a very well balanced full bodied Chardonnay blended with Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
      • Tempranillo 2022 - The most food perfect wine we have ever produced.  Medium plus bodied, earthy, and smooth.
  • Each of the six wines will be paired with a unique cheese to enhance the experience.
  • There will not be a dinner, so the prudent advice would be to arrive already having had your dinner.

Barrel head pictured above:  A new, 2024 barrel branded with our Heritage Series label.  The Coat of Arms of the winemaker's mother's family - Lattavo, combined with the Coat of Arms of the winemaker's wife's (Gina's) family - Melchior.  The combination is the Maragas family Coat of Arms.   Note that the new oak wood in this barrel, although coopered overseas, was sourced in the great state of Ohio.  That's excellent tighter grained American oak.
